FPGA / RTL Development

LSF Design's FPGA team brings broad FPGA development expertise to projects in areas including high performance interfaces like PCIe, DDR3/4/HMC, Multi-gbs SERDES, Embedded Systems, SOC, TDM and Scientific applications. We are a Certified Design Partner with Xilinx, and a Design Services Network partner with Altera. We are knowledgeable with the unique features of these technologies and can use our FPGA experience to design a custom FPGA solution for you.

Design Verification

At LSF Design we start with the customer requirements. We often make recomendations for the RTL language, toolset and FPGA vendor, but are equally adept at fitting into any established methodology. We have experience providing RTL design services in Verilog or VHDL and DV test environment creation using VHDL, Verilog, System verilog, C and Python. In-house, we employ our own RTL design methodology. In this flow, we place a large emphasis on design verification and RTL simulation. Our philosophy is to simulate to the point where we know that when we get into the lab, an FPGA design will work as expected. We use GIT on a secure off-site server for source code revision control, as well as an issue/bug tracking system. We are always looking to improve the hardware design process.

Board / Module Design

LSF Design works to develop market-ready products and solutions for entrepreneurs, startups, small businesses, large corporations, and government agencies. We have designed over five hundred products and are here to help you bring your product to market. We believe in teamwork, collaboration and communication. Our experience with board-level designs for products ranges from postage stamp sized PCBs containing tens of components to large, blade class PCBs containing thousands of components. PCB designs include high speed LVDS, high density interconnect, digital, analog, mixed signal, A/D and D/A converters, WIFI, Cellular, streaming video, MEM's accelerometers and rate sensors, power supply sub-system design, optical components, and many other circuit types. Test Fixtures - Occasionally we get asked to make a test fixture for gathering data from or monitoring a Device Under Test (DUT). This service allows our customers to ramp up into production quicker - these one-off designs typically involve an FPGA design using a vendor demo board but also include a customized enclosure, power supply and some sort of software component for correlating the data. Board & system debug - We have a well equipped lab to perform debug and board rework.

PCB Layout - We use PADS PCB in-house at LSF for PCB layout and work with a strong network of PCB layout engineers to meet scheduling demands when necessary. Cost Sensitive Designs - At LSF, we always consider product cost and try to balance design decisions based on your needs. If your product is expected to ship thousands of units, the design decisions will likely differ from a product that is a one time build or very low production run. Regardless, we will always work with you to find the right cost point for your product.
